Since 2004, Wee Can Know has partnered with churches and families to share the Gospel with preschoolers.
Childhood is a season of building foundations that last a lifetime.
We believe preschoolers are ready and able to understand the Good News of Jesus.
That’s why Wee Can Know exists — to help parents, churches, and teachers clearly share the Gospel with little ones.
Our Mission
God has called us to reach preschoolers with the Gospel.
We do this through three main focuses:
-Sharing the Gospel with children
-Equipping parents with tools and encouragement
-Training teachers to lead with confidence
Our Ministry in Action
From our founding in 2004, Wee Can Know has reached children and families through:
-Day Care Bible Clubs
-Mardi Gras Outreach
-Community Block Parties
-Teacher Training Workshops
All of our outreach is provided free of charge, and we keep training fees minimal to serve as many families and churches as possible.
Our Beliefs
We hold firmly to God’s Word as the foundation for everything we teach.
-Scripture is true and trustworthy.
-The Gospel is for all, including preschoolers.
-Parents are the first disciplers.
-The local church is God’s plan for growth.
Our Founders
Phil and Debbie Smith have dedicated their lives to reaching children with the Gospel since the late 1970s.
Phil first served in children’s ministry while studying at Tennessee Temple in Chattanooga, leading in the bus ministry, Sunday School, and children’s church. Debbie began teaching Good News Clubs® and Sunday School in Mobile, AL. They met while serving together in AWANA in Montgomery and married in 1991.
God soon called them into full-time ministry. From 1994–2003, Phil and Debbie served as co-directors of Child Evangelism Fellowship of Southwest Alabama. In 2002, they moved to New Orleans to study at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, where they both earned Master’s degrees in Christian Education.
In 2004, they founded Wee Can Know, a ministry dedicated to equipping parents, churches, and teachers to share Christ with preschoolers. Today, the Smiths continue serving through outreach, teacher training, and partnerships with evangelical organizations and local churches.
They live in New Orleans, where they are active members of First Baptist Chalmette. They have two adult sons, two grandsons, two great-grandsons, and continue to joyfully serve families and children together.

We are passionate about reaching children and families with the Gospel of Christ. But we cannot do it alone.
